360,000-gsf High School designed to California High Performance Schools (CHPS) Standards, consisting of 72 classrooms including Dramatic and Visual Arts labs, and 22,000 gsf 885-seat theater. For the high school to become a didactic tool itself, our design exposes and draws attention to the structural elements of the buildings, such as the shear walls. The shaping of the exterior walls of the auditorium is on the basis of the ideal acoustical reflectance of these walls on the inside. The ceiling plane derives its geometries from acoustical reflectance priorities as well.
